Scope and starting point
Start by identifying what the number describes: an absolute limit, recommended operation, bin boundary or typical test result. Keep the part suffix and source revision with it. Two LEDs sharing a package size may have different emitters, pads, optical surfaces and permissible currents.
Selection notes
Match the complete model suffix, rated current and constant-current voltage window. Allow for cold and hot LED-string voltage, temperature derating, dimming compatibility and enclosure conditions. This preliminary comparison is not an isolation, wiring or electrical-safety approval.
Keep a reproducible record
Save the complete part number, source revision, operating point and the reason for each decision. Keep calculated examples separate from observed results. A measurement report needs its sample identifier, instrument and calibration details, stabilization, ambient conditions, raw record and uncertainty statement. Do not replace a missing value with zero or a typical value with a guaranteed limit.
