To meet the application needs of AI technology in AR smart glasses, the Aria Gen 2 weighs only 75 grams and boasts a battery life of 6-8 hours, compared to the Aria Gen 1. Furthermore, the Aria Gen 2 features an advanced sensor suite, including an upgraded sensor suite with an RGB camera, a 6DOF SLAM camera, an eye-tracking camera, a spatial microphone, an inertial measurement unit, a barometer, a magnetometer, and a navigation system. Compared to its predecessor, the ARIA Gen 1, the new generation also introduces two innovative sensors embedded in the NosePad: a PPG sensor for measuring heart rate and a contact microphone.

Meta says it hopes Aria Gen 2 will enable researchers in industry and academia to unlock new work in areas such as machine perception, egocentric and contextual AI, and robotics.

Meta did not disclose specific parameters of its Aria Gen 2 microdisplay technology. However, it's worth noting that Meta's Orion full-color AR glasses prototype, unveiled last year, uses silicon-based Micro LED technology, and this product is planned for availability to developers in 2026.
