Recently, Bloomberg revealed that Apple's 2027 product launch plan may be extremely rich, with the iPhone Fold and Apple Glass, Apple's first foray into the market, attracting much attention. Of particular interest is the possibility that the release date for Apple Glass may be brought forward to the end of 2026.
Based on current information, the Apple Glass expected to debut at the end of 2026 will not be a full-fledged AR product, but rather a version with relatively limited functionality. Its design concept is similar to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which feature image capture, audio playback, and connectivity with digital assistants. Apple's glasses will likely also focus on these basic functions.
However, Apple possesses unique advantages in product design and technological expertise. Over the years, Apple has accumulated extensive experience in electronic product design, particularly in electronic miniaturization technology. Leveraging these strengths, Apple Glass is expected to feature a minimalist design, ensuring functionality while showcasing a high level of aesthetics and sophistication.

In terms of performance, Apple is developing a custom chip to meet the high processing power requirements of smart glasses. Despite the numerous challenges in designing smart glasses, Apple seems determined to turn Apple Glass from concept into reality. Reports indicate that bringing Apple Glass to fruition has become one of Apple CEO Tim Cook's top priorities.
In terms of functionality, Apple Glass is expected to feature Apple Intelligence. Using its built-in camera, it can capture images of the local environment, collect relevant data, and provide support for answering user questions, similar in principle to the existing Visual Intelligence feature.
Furthermore, to provide Apple Intelligence and Apple Glass with richer visual data, Apple appears to be building a larger product ecosystem. In the future, Apple may release new AirPods and Apple Watch equipped with cameras. These new products, working in conjunction with Apple Glass, will form a more powerful intelligent interaction network, bringing users a completely new experience.
Apple's strategy in the smart glasses field is gradually becoming clear. The release of a feature-limited version of Apple Glass at the end of 2026 may just be a "test run" for Apple in the smart wearable device market. (Source: Sina VR)
