JBD, a leading global MicroLED microdisplay company, recently announced that its self-developed AR waveguide glasses system-level image quality engine—ARTCs—has been deeply integrated into RayNeo's flagship product, the "RayNeo X3 Pro," bringing a revolutionary visual experience to full-color MicroLED waveguide AR glasses. The core device of the ARTCs image quality engine, ARTCs-WG, has been successfully deployed on RayNeo's production line, fully supporting the large-scale production of AR glasses. This collaboration not only marks a new stage in ARTCs' successful transition from experimental verification to large-scale application but also injects new momentum into the AR near-eye display industry.

Breaking through technological bottlenecks and ushering in an AR image quality revolution . For a long time, waveguide virtual image displays have suffered from display defects such as uneven brightness and color distortion, severely impacting the AR visual experience. Addressing this industry pain point, JBD launched the industry's first AR waveguide image quality correction solution, ARTCs, and its accompanying mass-production equipment, ARTCs-WG, in 2024. This system, through light engine-side processing and proprietary image quality algorithms, improves the global brightness uniformity of MicroLED waveguide AR glasses from "<40%" to ">80%", and reduces the color difference ΔE from ">0.1" to "~0.02", effectively eliminating color distortion and graininess, and significantly improving the display quality of waveguides.

While ensuring the slim and lightweight design of the color waveguide AR glasses, the ARTCs image quality engine further unleashes the advantages of MicroLED microdisplays, such as "high brightness, low power consumption, and small size," making the images more natural and vivid and significantly improving the user's visual experience.

ARTCs effectively solve the problem of non-uniformity in waveguide displays, ensuring that every pair of waveguide AR glasses can present a high-quality image. This not only meets consumers' expectations for a superior visual experience but also breaks through the technical bottleneck that restricts the large-scale application of color waveguide AR glasses, clearing key obstacles for the market expansion and popularization of color AR glasses.

Facilitating the Upgrade of Intelligent Manufacturing for Terminals <br /> Thanks to its significant innovation in visual experience, ARTCs have gained widespread attention in the industry. Thunderbird Innovation, a pioneering brand of consumer AR glasses, has leveraged its outstanding innovation capabilities to be the first to apply the ARTCs image quality engine to the Thunderbird X3 Pro consumer-grade full-color MicroLED waveguide AR glasses and its mass production line.

During the implementation of Thunderbird's innovative production line, the ARTCs image quality engine demonstrated excellent adaptability and efficiency:

  • One-stop system-level calibration: Based on the hardware-level DEMURA, it realizes unified full optical system calibration and optimization of MicroLED micro-displays and optical waveguides;
  • Rapid production line integration: Provides standardized automated testing and image quality correction processes for AR waveguide glasses, seamlessly supporting OEM/ODM and end-product production lines;
  • Mass production support: Provides strong support for the rapid launch of products to the market.

Li Hongwei, founder and CEO of Thunderbird Innovation, said, "JBD, as a leading global provider of MicroLED microdisplay solutions, has always been an important strategic partner of ours. The introduction of the ARTCs image quality engine has brought a significant improvement to the display quality of the Thunderbird X3 Pro. We look forward to continuing to deepen our cooperation with JBD and injecting new vitality into the development of the AR near-eye display industry."

JBD CEO Li Qiming stated, “Thunderbird Innovations was among the earliest pioneers in AR glasses development globally. For many years, Thunderbird Innovations and JBD have grown together, continuously exploring ways to improve display quality and refine technology. Now, in collaboration with Thunderbird Innovations, we have launched ARTCs to address the brightness and color differences inherent in the combination of MicroLED microdisplays and diffractive waveguides, and these technologies have been successfully applied to the Thunderbird X3 Pro. This technology demonstrates that JBD has reliably transformed laboratory-grade image correction technology into large-scale commercial applications, providing new development opportunities for the AR near-eye display industry. I look forward to jointly opening a new chapter in high-definition AR with Thunderbird Innovations.”

Looking to the future, JBD will continue to focus on MicroLED microdisplays and ARTCs image engines, driving consumer AR glasses to evolve towards superior image quality, lightweight design, and all-day wearability, allowing cutting-edge AR technology to enter people's lives more quickly.
