Recently, Seoul Semiconductor, a major international LED manufacturer, and its subsidiary Seoul Violux, released their Q2 2025 financial reports. Overall, both companies' sales during the reporting period met or exceeded their guidance, demonstrating their continued growth momentum in niche markets such as automotive, lighting, Micro LED, and UV LED.
Seoul Semiconductor's revenue recovered to 251.6 billion won, with improved profitability . Financial results show that Seoul Semiconductor's consolidated sales in Q2 reached 251.6 billion won (approximately 1.33 billion yuan), a 5.2% increase quarter-on-quarter. Driven by the gradual recovery in demand and optimized cost structure, the company's profitability improved, with EBITDA rising to 14.1 billion won, corresponding to an EBITDA margin of 5.6%, a significant improvement compared to Q1.
In addition, Seoul Semiconductor's R&D expenses continued to increase. During the reporting period, its R&D expenses reached 29 billion won, accounting for 11.4% of sales. Seoul Semiconductor stated that continued R&D investment will be the driving force for the company's future development.

Looking at the business segments, automotive LEDs remained a key growth engine during the reporting period. Seoul Semiconductor's WICOP technology has been adopted by the world's top ten automotive brands and used in over 100 models. The lighting segment continued to expand its market share and gained further recognition in the global market thanks to its "SunLike" full-spectrum LEDs.
In the IT sector, data shows that Seoul Semiconductor ranked first globally in shipments of WICOP-based Mini LED backlights in 2023-2024. This year, Seoul Semiconductor has further expanded its Mini LED backlight development into the automotive field. Previously, Seoul Semiconductor revealed that its Mini LED backlights will enter the automotive display supply chain starting in May 2025.
Looking ahead to Q3 2025, Seoul Semiconductor expects its sales to be between 250 billion and 270 billion won, a year-on-year decrease of approximately 10.2% to 16.9%, and a quarter-on-quarter increase of 7.3% or a decrease of 0.6%.

Seoul Viosys' Q2 sales reached KRW 188.1 billion, exceeding the upper limit of guidance . Seoul Viosys' Q2 performance was particularly strong, achieving sales of KRW 188.1 billion (approximately RMB 1 billion) during the reporting period, exceeding the guidance range of KRW 170-180 billion. EBITDA reached KRW 17.1 billion, an increase of KRW 10.1 billion from the previous quarter, corresponding to an EBITDA margin of 9.1%, a sequential increase of 4.9 percentage points. R&D expenses were KRW 16.2 billion, a slight decrease from the previous quarter, representing 8.6% of sales.

From a business development perspective, demand for Seoul Viosys' high-margin WICOP products continues to expand, and emerging products such as Micro LED have also received positive feedback from customers, leading to an increase in demand for related technology evaluations and samples.
Seoul Viosys continues to deepen its presence in UV LED (Violeds) applications, supplying disinfection and sterilization solutions to leading global home appliance brands. Furthermore, the company is demonstrating further growth potential in the fields of 3D sensing and 25G optical communication.
Looking ahead to Q3, Seoul Viosys expects sales to be in the range of 175 billion to 185 billion won, which is a slight decrease compared to the previous quarter, but still remains in a high range.

Summary <br /> Overall, both Seoul Semiconductor and Seoul VIO Semiconductor showed recovery and growth trends in their Q2 2025 results. The former benefited from the expansion of automotive LEDs and Mini LEDs, leading to a gradual improvement in profitability; the latter achieved better-than-expected sales revenue thanks to technologies such as WICOP, Micro LED, and UV LED.
As competition intensifies in the global LED industry in areas such as automotive lighting, Mini/Micro LED displays, UV lighting, and optical communications, Seoul Semiconductor Group's product strategy and market expansion will be a key focus in the second half of the year. (Text: Irving)
