Benefiting from strong downstream demand, Micro LED giant Nichuang will seek new non-Chinese production and operation sites in Asia this year. Among its main partners, LED leader Fu-Cai and panel giant AUO will also launch new Micro LED production capacity in the first half of the year.
In recent years, Fu-Cai has entered the Micro LED field, focusing on the TV and automotive supply chains. Since last year, it has significantly adjusted its operating structure and reallocated resources, resulting in a significant improvement in the yield of Micro LED front-end epitaxial process. Its chip carrier and wafer-level packaging technologies have also been approved by customers for trial production and mass production projects. The new capacity of its Miaoli plant will be put into use by the end of the first quarter of this year.
Downstream supply chain sources indicate that Fu-Cai's Micro LED plant construction is progressing significantly faster than internally anticipated, and its parent company, AU Optronics, will also launch a small-size Micro LED panel production line for wearable devices in the second quarter. Analysts predict that Fu-Cai's revenue could potentially grow by double-digit percentages this year, and if operating costs are well-controlled, it could also continue to achieve quarterly profitability.

Observing Neptunus's market positioning in Micro LED, it intends to transform into a turnkey solution provider, offering extensive technology transfer and assisting in the establishment of corresponding production lines to meet the diverse product needs of its clients. In recent years, at the request of its major client Samsung, Neptunus has collaborated with its supply chain partners in Taiwan to strengthen its local production capacity and has been actively seeking other production sites in Asia.
There is speculation that AU Optronics' Singapore LCD panel plant, which closed in December 2023, could become a new location for Neptunus' Micro LED technology. Neptunus Chairman Lee Yun-li recently arrived in Las Vegas to attend the annual Consumer Electronics Show, and before his departure, he confirmed that the company is actively raising funds to establish a new site.
Regarding the future development of Micro LED, Neptunus will supply Samsung with a 140-inch TV this year and is also in talks for an AR (Augmented Reality) micro-Micro LED display project. As AU Optronics and Encore Technology strengthen their investment in Micro LED automotive displays, Neptunus will also gain a foothold in the market. (Source: Liberty Times)
