On March 6, 2025, the first 4K 16-meter VLED LED cinema in East China was officially opened at Xuzhou Suning Cinema Pengcheng Square Store, and a lighting ceremony was held.

VLED LED is an LED cinema screen product under China Film Optics. It was first launched on June 13, 2023, and officially unveiled at an event in Shanghai. VLED LED Cinema aims to provide cinemas with efficient projection solutions.
The launch in Xuzhou marks a further expansion of VLED cinemas. In January of this year, the first 4K 20-meter VLED cinema in East China was put into use at the Platinum Statue Cinema (in77 Black Horse Animation VLED Store) in Hefei; the first VLED movie screen in Southern Zhejiang was successfully lit up in Hall 2 of the Wenzhou Film Industry Bailu Cinema European City Store; and the VLED cinema at the Shanghai Film International Cinema in Xining, Qinghai, has also officially opened.
Currently, China Film Optics' VLED product family covers 8-meter, 10-meter, 14-meter, 16-meter and 20-meter screens, and VLED LED cinema screens have been installed in more than 20 cinemas in China.
According to TrendForce's analysis, the global high-end cinema screen market comprises approximately 30,000 units, while the penetration rate of LED cinema screens is only 0.5%, indicating a huge market potential. Besides China Film Optoelectronics Technology, other companies such as China Film Technology, Leyard, and Unilumin Technology are also actively investing in this field.
The CINITY LED LED cinema screen, jointly launched by China Film Technology and AOTO Electronics, supports 4K resolution and 120fps high-format playback. The system complies with the DCI-P3 color gamut standard, and the maximum brightness can reach 87fL in 2D mode and 17fL in 3D single-eye projection.
In December of last year, Leyard launched the world's first Micro LED cinema screen (3.8 meters long, 2 meters high, P0.9, 4K). The product was officially lit up at the Xiaobailou Cinema of Taihang State Guest House in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, and became the industry's first Micro LED cinema screen to pass DCI certification.
On December 30 of the same year, the nation's first full high frame rate LED cinema – Huaxia Film Center – was completed in Beichenhui Commercial Center, Chaoyang District, Beijing, equipped with 8 standard screening rooms and 8 VIP high frame rate LED screening rooms.
Unilumin Technology's UCine LED display is the first LED cinema screen product in China to receive Hollywood DCI certification. The company continues to optimize and upgrade the performance of its LED cinema screens, and has innovatively developed products and solutions such as immersive theaters and the world's first acoustically transparent screen. It also plans to launch a 3.8-meter home theater screen.
Currently, Unilumin Technology's UCINE LED cinema screens have been put into use in cinemas in Harbin, Beijing, Xinjiang, Chengdu, Sanya, Nanjing, Quzhou, and other cities. The overseas market is also expanding, with successful deployments in Los Angeles, Moscow, and Eastern Europe. A new cinema is expected to open in Slovenia this March. (Compiled by Mia)
