From March 26th to 28th, the Shanghai International Automotive Lighting Exhibition (ALE) was held at the Kunshan Huaqiao International Expo Center. The exhibition covered a total area of ​​over 40,000 square meters, with more than 500 participating brands, attracting participation from well-known domestic and international OEMs, automotive lighting companies, and numerous automotive LED enterprises.

It is understood that LED-related companies such as ams OSRAM, Everlight, Jinko Electronics, Hongli Zhihui, BOE Huacan Optoelectronics, Lite-On Technology, Chipone Technology, Hella, Xingyu Optoelectronics, Nationstar Optoelectronics, Sanan Optoelectronics, LONGi Optoelectronics, Refond Optoelectronics, Shengpu Optoelectronics, Tiandian Optoelectronics, Dominant, Ruituo Electronics, Huahao Weiye, Youming Optoelectronics, and Jinghe Optoelectronics showcased a series of automotive lighting and display products.

Headlights <br /> With the introduction of Micro LED technology, ADB adaptive headlights have seen significant improvements in digital control precision and flexible adjustment of the illumination area. At this exhibition, companies such as ams OSRAM, BOE HC SemiTek, Nationstar Optoelectronics, Ascend Optoelectronics, and LONGi Optoelectronics showcased headlights based on Micro LED light sources, ADB pixel headlights, and ADB modules.

ams OSRAM showcased the EVIYOS 2.0 high-pixel projection headlight, which integrates 25,600 individually controllable Micro LEDs (320 columns x 80 rows) with a pixel pitch of 40 micrometers, an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, and is AEC-Q102 certified, supporting precise dynamic headlight adjustment and image projection functions.

Hongli Zhihui, in collaboration with JAC Yttrium, has launched a ring-shaped LED daytime running light application solution for its vehicles. This daytime running light features a ring design and is installed at the front of the vehicle. It not only highlights the vehicle's cute style but also provides excellent daytime visibility through 45 0.2W white LED beads, enhancing driving safety.

Lite-On Technology's "Multi-Beam Smart Headlight Solution" utilizes high-precision COB technology to integrate 24 to 102 chips into a single LED, reducing the size of the headlight module while providing high brightness and high color uniformity. The "Adaptive Headlight" LED module achieves high brightness and high contrast through optimized structure and materials, providing zoned lighting effects to avoid glare and improve nighttime driving safety. In addition, Lite-On also showcased 24- and 48-pixel high-brightness LED Matrix smart headlight modules.

Everlight primarily promotes its products for use in headlights (including daytime running lights and front fog lights) and ambient lighting. Headlights are designed with easy integration of optical lenses in mind, and the company has already completed development and is actively promoting the ALFS H series (monocrystalline LED brightness up to 480lm @1,000mA, 1.32mm² LES), ALFS J series (monocrystalline LED brightness up to 450lm @1,000mA, 1.19mm² LES), and ALFS JS series (monocrystalline LED brightness up to 435lm @1,000mA, 1.06mm² LES). WHUDs can also utilize monocrystalline LED products; for example, the ALFS J series incorporates the ideal L9 WHUD design.

BOE Huacan Optoelectronics' Micro LED ADB matrix pixel headlights utilize a high-reflectivity thermoelectric integrated pixel isolation process, significantly improving the product's photoelectric performance and long-term reliability. The application of ultra-thin light-swapping technology effectively enhances pixel contrast. Furthermore, it leverages proprietary high-quality epitaxial and chip integration processing technologies.

This product can stably output light at extreme current densities. Each light-emitting unit contains over 40,000 chips, achieving dynamic control at the tens of thousands of pixels level, providing precise beam control capabilities for matrix headlights. Currently, BOE Huacan is accelerating its progress from the product development stage to mass production.

The Micro LED light source module 0.61 is a high-performance product designed specifically for ADB matrix headlights. It features a 14.96 mm × 4.4 mm light-emitting area, a resolution of 374*110, a pixel size of 40 micrometers, a total of 41,140 pixels, and provides a white light brightness of 0.7 lumens. This module is characterized by its dynamic control capability at the tens of thousands of pixels level and its use of proprietary epitaxial growth and chip integration processing technology.

Hella showcased the Porsche Cayenne SSL | HD high-resolution LED matrix headlights, employing matrix LED technology to achieve a highly miniaturized design. The more miniaturized light source allows each chip to have up to 16,384 LED pixels, significantly reducing overall installation space. The installation space required for the lighting module can be reduced by up to 75%, creating more possibilities for headlight integration into vehicle architecture. This product entered mass production in 2023.

Hella provided the "Flying Eaves and Tiger's Gaze" headlights for Geely Galaxy E8, which blend the aesthetics of "flying eaves" in ancient Chinese architecture with the biomimetic design of "tiger's gaze." The headlights feature a sharp and dynamic shape, achieving segmented illumination of a 60 square centimeter light-emitting area with fewer LEDs, balancing high brightness, a large luminous area, and low power consumption. Functionally, they provide brighter and more uniform lighting, low energy consumption to extend battery life, an integrated design to simplify installation, and a welcome function.

Xingyu Technology showcased the Hongqi National Gift Headlight, the Guoya Headlight, and the Wenjie M9 Intelligent Headlight.

The Hongqi state gift headlights adopt the design concept of "round sky and square earth," with the headlight shape inspired by the caisson ceiling of the Temple of Heaven. The cool dynamic welcome effect shines like crystal, and is equipped with an 11-pixel dual-beam ADB module, with the turning position sharing the same light-emitting surface as the daytime running lights.

The Guoya headlights feature a rounded design with an internal texture that creates a diamond-like sparkle. They employ a self-developed integrated horizontal beam design for both high and low beams and are equipped with a megapixel DLP projection function. A dynamic welcome function is also available.

The Wenjie M9 intelligent headlights use Xingyu's independently developed 84-pixel ADB system, and are synchronized with a million-level DLP module jointly developed with Huawei to achieve precise masking of vehicles in front.

In terms of automotive exterior LED products, Guoxing Optoelectronics is equipped with various specifications of front and rear combination lights and LED light sources, and is actively developing innovative applications, such as micro LED digital automotive lighting modules with tens of thousands of pixels and projection headlights with millions of pixels.

LONGi showcased its ADB (Advanced Beam Module) high/low beam headlight modules (ADB module series), high/low beam headlights (high-power ASL and ATL series), and Micro LED pixel automotive headlights (under development). These products focus on intelligent and high-performance lighting technologies, with the ADB module dynamically adjusting the beam pattern according to road conditions to improve driving safety.

Among them, Refond Optoelectronics' automotive-grade ADB module product is a major highlight. Based on its micron-level pixel pitch and precise zone lighting capabilities, it enables accurate beam control across all road conditions; dynamically avoiding glare while providing optimal lighting for the driver and enhancing driving safety. It supports 102, 84, 48, and 24 pixel options, flexibly adapting to various vehicle models and meeting the needs of innovative and personalized vehicle lighting designs.

The latest generation of automotive-grade ceramic high-power headlight technology is based on ceramic substrate + pre-installed hot-press eutectic packaging process, which achieves long-lasting and stable light color and super heat dissipation performance. It has a product matrix covering the full power of 1-5 cores, achieving perfect domestic substitution and ensuring automotive-grade reliability.

Of particular note is Refond's debut of a new diamond-based ultra-high power density packaged product, which boasts a stable 60W high brightness per lamp, a luminous efficacy of 6500lm/W, and a compact 5*5mm size that is compatible with mainstream solutions. It addresses the pain points of traditional high-power products, such as large light decay and poor thermal conductivity, and can meet the application scenarios with various high luminous efficacy requirements.

Shengpu Optoelectronics has launched an automotive-grade ADB matrix light source, a multi-pixel solution featuring high reliability and micron-level pixel pitch. Its packaging utilizes aluminum nitride ceramic and a glass phosphor film, with a 120° emission pointing angle and AEC-Q102 certification. This light source complies with RoHS and REACH standards and is suitable for applications such as ADB and adaptive high beam.

Jinko Electronics showcased its 3W high-power LED headlights, which have been deployed in over 1 million units on the market, while its automotive-grade LED products have accumulated over 8 million installations. In addition, Jinko Electronics also demonstrated its 32-pixel integrated matrix headlights and a 3040 32-pixel ADB module with a pixel pitch of 0.1mm.

TianDian Optoelectronics showcased its automotive headlight solutions, 84-pixel ADB headlight solutions, and low-pixel ADB solutions. The 84-pixel ADB headlight solution, in particular, comprises 84 pixels, enabling more precise light control.

In addition, Tiandian Optoelectronics has launched an optical yellow spot elimination solution, which effectively solves the problem of yellow halo in light spots and is suitable for daytime running lights.

Ruituo Electronics showcased the Great Wall-ORA Good Cat headlights, the Wuling Baojun Cloud Sea headlights, and the Leapmotor C11 headlights, all of which meet AEC-Q102 quality certification.

Among them, the ORA Good Cat's headlights use high-reliability EMC gold-plated materials and are also used in models such as the Wenjie M9, Tansuo 06, Chery Oumengda, Nezha S, and Yinhe L7.

The Wuling Baojun Yunhai headlights are lighting devices with both low beam and high beam functions, suitable for various models, including the Wuling MINIEV Macaron, Wuling Xingguang S, Wuling Baojun Xiangjing, Wuling Baojun Yunhai, and Leapmotor C10/C11.

Taillights <br /> In recent years, the trend towards personalized and communicative vehicle lighting has been particularly evident in taillight design, with Mini LED, continuous taillights, and intelligent lighting interaction gradually becoming new industry trends. At this exhibition, companies such as ams Osram and Optoelectronics Technology showcased Mini LED taillights, which enhance visual appeal and energy efficiency thanks to their high brightness, precise light control, and low power consumption.

ams OSRAM's ALIYOS thin-film taillights utilize Mini LED on Foil technology to function as exterior signal lights, including position lights, brake lights, and turn signals. This product integrates LED light sources into the lamp's design, featuring 3D flexible shaping capabilities, customizable styling, and offering high luminous efficacy, high brightness, and high transparency.

The ams OSRAM full-width taillight uses 40 P1515 LEDs and is an economical 360-degree illuminated taillight for automotive exteriors, with a brightness of 1500 nits, suitable for 360-degree illumination needs.

Lite-On Technology showcased its next-generation flexible intelligent Mini LED taillight series for automobiles, featuring high brightness, high contrast, and a slim design, breaking through traditional automotive lighting functions and enhancing driving safety. Also on display were high-efficiency, highly uniform linear taillights, which reduce the number of LEDs through a special design while maintaining brightness and uniformity, providing various turn signal and taillight application solutions.

Everlight showcased a new type of dual-color LED packaging, such as taillights (red light) and autonomous driving assistance lights (cyan light), using high-brightness-output flip-chip chips paired with phosphor-in-glass sheets to achieve high reliability even under high temperature and high humidity conditions.

For the Mini LED taillight/communication display market, Everlight has launched the CSP0603 white and red LEDs and the CSP0804 RGB LEDs, both of which have passed the automotive AEC-Q102 certification. In addition, the LED1515 can be used in taillights and automotive displays to improve light uniformity.

Chipone Technology's automotive-grade integrated row and column driver chip ICND7301 supports 48-channel constant current output and 1-96 scans. It can be applied to pixelated taillights, ambient lights, and other automotive components, combining lighting and display functions.

Hella showcased the Lynk & Co Z20 Starship Streamer Tail Wing Lights and the Lynk & Co Z10 Energy-Boosting Colorful Tail Lights.

Among them, the Lynk & Co Z20's Starship Streamer Rear Wing Lights feature a dynamic welcome function. The 130mm protruding and upturned rear wing shape optimizes the vehicle's aerodynamic performance. It also meets the regulatory requirements for the light distribution of turn signals, brake lights, reversing lights, rear fog lights, and side marker lights.

Dominant's Tongming Bright LED technology is used in the taillights of the Xiaomi Mi SU7 and the Mi M9. This automotive-grade, ultra-high brightness surface-mount LED features a compact design (package size 2.5x2.0mm) and excellent corrosion resistance, making it suitable for rear combination lamp assemblies and center high-mount brake lights.

Huahao Weiye's Peanut Shell LED series features a unique one-piece molded peanut shell lens design, enabling each LED to precisely and evenly illuminate the target area, providing a unique light and shadow effect. This design not only effectively reduces stray light from non-target areas and improves lighting efficiency, but also reduces energy waste and lowers costs by optimizing light source utilization.

Ruituo Electronics showcased the Chery Arrizo 8's continuous taillight, integrating brake lights and position lights. This product solution uses 0.2W 4043 side-emitting red light, featuring a side-emitting design that aligns with the concept of thinner headlights and has passed AEC-Q102 quality certification. Applicable models include the Chery Arrizo 8, Tiggo 8, and Wuling.

Ruituo Electronics also showcased the taillights of the SAIC Volkswagen Lavida, LED taillights with brake lights and position lights, using a 3528 0.2W red light product solution, featuring high brightness, low power consumption, long lifespan and low light decay, and meeting AEC-Q102 quality certification.

Ambient lighting, grille lights, and combination lights were among the key products showcased by manufacturers at this exhibition. Companies such as Nationstar Optoelectronics, Lattice Optoelectronics, and Lite-On Technology displayed ambient lighting, while ams OSRAM, Hongli Zhihui, and Shengpu Optoelectronics exhibited grille lights. Additionally, Hongli Zhihui, Shengpu Optoelectronics, Tiandian Optoelectronics, and Dominant Tongming showcased combination lights.

ams OSRAM's RGBi and SYNIOS 2222 grille lights are designed for autonomous driving signal lights and white front grilles. They use compact SYNIOS 2222 white LEDs with a drive current of 130mA. 44 LEDs enable dynamic grille lighting, while 9 smart RGB LEDs enable autonomous driving signal lights at 50mA.

Hongli Intelligent Technology's Automotive Semiconductor Division showcased its Smart RGB LED. This product directly encapsulates the IC within the LED bracket, resulting in a simpler and more efficient circuit design compared to traditional RGB circuits. It also reduces the extra space required for a separate external IC, making the product thinner and lighter.

The product offers single-point controllable full-color capabilities, meeting the ambient lighting requirements of various customers in the market, including 64, 128, 256, and 1024 colors. It is fully compatible with the needs of various high-end cars and is suitable for ambient lighting in areas such as pedals, center consoles, door armrests, and headliners, creating a warm and comfortable in-car atmosphere.

Hongli Zhihui's automotive LED products also complement various combination lighting solutions, such as the Avita 07 front combination lights and the Voyah Zhiyin combination taillights. In addition, Hongli Zhihui's subsidiary, Yishan Auto Lighting, showcased a range of intelligent automotive lighting products, including BAIC Group's rear combination lights, Chery Jetour's front continuous light + daytime running light + grille light, and Geely New Energy's illuminated grille light + illuminated front bumper light.

Among them, the Chery Jetour's front through light + daytime running light + grille light (T1P-FL3) adopts a unique through light, daytime running light and grille light design, which not only enhances the appearance and recognition of the vehicle, but also creates a strong sense of sportiness for the body, making Chery models more stylish and sophisticated.

In terms of intelligent vehicle lighting, Hongli Zhihui's subsidiary, Foda Signal, showcased its fireworks light solution, finger-activated ambient lighting solution, as well as core vehicle lighting products such as the K005 grille light assembly and dynamic projection lights.

Among them, the fireworks ambient light creates an infinitely returning 3D lighting effect without increasing the size and weight of traditional surface-emitting products. It has been patented and is currently under review.

The Fireworks Crystal Ambient Light is based on the traditional fireworks light, but with the addition of a smoked mask, making it easier to integrate into the overall vehicle interior design when not illuminated. Two versions are available: one with uniform illumination, and the other with a patterned, shimmering effect.

It features overvoltage, undervoltage, and overtemperature protection, supports UDS diagnostics, upgrades, and OTA animation updates, is compatible with AUTOSAR network management, and has a sleep current of <0.1mA.

This series utilizes high-brightness color control technology, suitable for in-vehicle ambient lighting and intelligent surface light transmission designs, enhancing the personalized ambiance.

At the same time, the "RGBW and Single-Chip System Micro-Package Module" was showcased, which uses a single high-power LED to replace multiple LEDs, reducing the module size, providing diverse colors and high-efficiency white light applications, and supporting four-color dimming.

In line with the trend of intelligent ambient lighting, Everlight launched the 3534 RGB LED, which complies with the ISELED Alliance and has already been adopted by Korean automakers, with an expected adoption by European automakers in the second half of 2025. The 3030 LED ambient lighting has also been successfully adopted by Hyundai, XPeng, and Jike 008 for interior and exterior decoration.

Xingyu Technology showcased products including the BMW X3 front grille light, the Xingyao L series hidden luminous grille, the instant hand-painted LED-Matrix interactive display light, the low-cost film projection small light, the 3D stereoscopic display rear combination light, and the HD intelligent projection module.

Focusing on automotive ambient lighting applications, Nationstar Optoelectronics offers a full range of light source solutions, from monochrome to RGB (red, green, blue), to meet diverse market demands. The 3433 ambient light showcased at the exhibition utilizes a PLCC packaging structure and RoHS/REACH and halogen-free environmentally friendly materials. It boasts high versatility and cost-effectiveness, and has passed AEC-Q102 automotive-grade certification, meeting stringent requirements.

Sanan Optoelectronics showcased chips used in ambient lighting, brake lights, turn signals, side marker lights, reversing lights, license plate lights, reading lights, button lights, daytime running lights, and turn signals.

In terms of automotive interior lighting, LONGi Solar showcased ambient lighting (RGB and RGB-IC series), reading lights/button lights (3528 series), and more. The ambient lighting utilizes EMC packaging, offering high cost-effectiveness and reliability, providing higher brightness and excellent color mixing consistency, supporting global current adjustment for day and night modes, and the IC features temperature diagnostics and calibration functions.

Shengpu Optoelectronics showcased a range of innovative LED lighting devices, including front combination lights, rear combination lights, interior lights, and ADS sign lights. They also launched anti-fatigue driving LED technology, which, through years of research in the field of human factors lighting, discovered that "rhythm factors" can inhibit the secretion of melatonin in the human body; and for the first time, introduced this type of light source into automotive applications.

In line with the trend of intelligent driving market, Refond Optoelectronics debuted its innovative autonomous driving ADS Cyan blue-green LED product, which offers two solutions: chip and phosphor. It can be applied to intelligent driving indication scenarios such as headlights, side dynamic indicator lights, taillights, and sensor auxiliary light sources, and has advantages such as safe penetration, accurate recognition, and outstanding energy efficiency.

At the exhibition, Refond Optoelectronics also showcased a series of innovative products based on Mini LED technology, including interior ambient lighting, pixelated intelligent taillights, and dynamic car logos.

In addition, Refond Optoelectronics also presented its healthy lighting (full spectrum) solution and intelligent infrared sensing series to meet the automotive industry's demand for high-quality intelligent cockpit lighting environment and intelligent vehicle control.

In terms of modular headlamp solutions, TianDian Optoelectronics presented a modular headlamp solution using a standard headlamp package (1.9*1.5mm). This solution improves the light distribution of the module, increases the optical application efficiency of different light-emitting surfaces, and improves the overall lamp efficiency by 30%. Furthermore, the use of an aluminum substrate reduces costs.
