AR glasses company Vuzix secures $5 million in funding to accelerate the mass production of its waveguide technology.

On June 16, Vuzix, a US-based supplier of AR glasses and advanced waveguide technology, announced that it had received a second investment of US$5 million (approximately RMB 35.8805 million) from Quanta Computer. This brings Quanta Computer's total investment in Vuzix to US$15 million.

On September 3, 2024, Vuzix reportedly received a $20 million (approximately RMB 142 million) strategic investment from Quanta Computer. According to the investment agreement, Quanta Computer committed to disbursing the $20 million investment in three tranches. The first tranche will include $10 million worth of Vuzix common stock, while the second and third tranches will each be $5 million and subject to specific conditions.

Vuzix stated that the completion of the second investment marks a further deepening of its collaboration with Quanta and a further expansion of its advanced waveguide manufacturing capabilities. With this funding, the company will further enhance its advanced waveguide manufacturing capabilities, enabling Vuzix to offer the world's most affordable, lightweight, and high-performance AR smart glasses to the mass market.

According to available information, Vuzix is ​​a smart glasses company founded in 1997 that has launched multiple smart glasses models, which utilize new display technologies such as Micro OLED and Micro LED.
