In this collaboration, Luminus will have priority access to Seaborough's EuroLED™ phosphor technology. This technology will help enable high-quality, more sustainable warm white LED lighting applications.
EuroLED™ technology is a patented nanoengineered Eu3+-based phosphor solution for warm white LED lighting. This solution emits a unique narrowband of red light. With this characteristic, EuroLED™ technology provides 10% to 20% more lumens per watt than existing phosphor technologies within a color rendering index (CRI) range of 80-90, significantly enhancing the sustainability of LED lighting. Furthermore, the EuroLED™ manufacturing process does not require hydrofluoric acid and is not limited by oxygen requirements.
EuroLED™ technology is the first commercially available phosphor to use nanomaterials with precisely tunable particle size. This technology also allows for fine-tuning of optical properties and particle size, making it highly adaptable and suitable for a wide range of potential applications.
Seaborough stated that after years of research, the company is taking a significant step towards bringing EuroLED™ technology to market. Luminus stated that as an early adopter of innovative Eu3+-based phosphor technology, the company believes this will have a significant impact on the future development of the solid-state LED lighting industry.
