Xiaomi and Jufeng Optoelectronics establish joint laboratory

According to a report from "Zhongkai Release," the launch ceremony of the "Xiaomi & Jufeng Joint Laboratory" was held in Zhongkai High-tech Zone, Huizhou on November 19. As the first joint laboratory established in Huizhou in cooperation with Xiaomi, the laboratory will focus on Mini backlight technology innovation and further strengthen the diversified cooperation between the two parties in the field of display terminals.

It is reported that the Xiaomi & Jufeng Joint Laboratory will rely on the resources of Jufeng Optoelectronics' National CNAS Laboratory and National Enterprise Technology Center to form a high-end R&D talent team to conduct research and development in the fields of Xiaomi TVs, monitors and related display products and other LED applications, especially new backlight solutions, Mini LED, automotive LED and micro LED.

In addition, Jufeng Optoelectronics and Xiaomi will establish a platform for exchanging technologies and resources, focusing on cutting-edge technologies, and jointly conducting research and development of competitive innovative solutions. Through the laboratory platform, they will jointly develop solutions in the fields of smart displays, home and automotive appliances, and smart terminals, and apply the research results and transformed products to Xiaomi terminal products.

Jufeng Optoelectronics focuses on SMD LED, Mini/Micro LED and other products, covering multiple fields such as consumer electronics, displays, lighting and automotive electronics. In recent years, while consolidating its domestic backlight LED market, it has actively expanded into the automotive LED market.

Currently, Jufeng Optoelectronics' automotive-grade backlight LEDs have entered the global automotive module supply chain, and its automotive-grade external lighting LEDs have been adopted by many OEMs, including BYD, SAIC, GAC, Changan, Geely, Chery, JAC, Great Wall, etc. It also cooperates with Tier 1 automotive lighting manufacturers such as Huayu Vision, Jiali Group, and Jinyi Group.

In the application of Mini LED technology, Jufeng Optoelectronics provides Mini LED products for all Li Auto models and a 43-inch Mini LED cloud-based smart screen for the Jike 009. In addition, the company provides the first Mini COB direct-display interactive screen for Geely Emgrand LEVC TX5 and the world's first Mini COB star-ring smart full-color interactive screen for the Changan Qiyuan E07.

Xiaomi, founded in April 2010, is a consumer electronics and smart manufacturing company focusing on smartphones, smart hardware, and IoT platforms. In addition, Xiaomi is actively expanding its business scope, including smart electric vehicles.

Xiaomi announced its entry into the automotive industry in March 2021 and launched the Xiaomi SU7 on March 28, 2024. In terms of intelligent cockpit configuration, the Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with a 16.1-inch central control ecosystem screen, which uses Mini LED backlighting technology and is supplied by TCL CSOT. According to statistics, the average monthly delivery volume of the Xiaomi SU7 in the third quarter of this year was approximately 13,000 units.

In the field of new display technologies, Xiaomi has focused on the Mini LED market, launching the Xiaomi TV S Pro series and its first Mini LED gaming monitor, the G Pro 27i. Furthermore, Xiaomi released a Micro OLED glasses camera in 2022 and invested in Micro OLED company MIG Valley Technology, further expanding its presence in new display technologies.
