Samsung first showcased its XR headset, codenamed "Project Moohan," at the Unpacked event in January. As a strong competitor to Apple's Vision Pro, its release date is highly anticipated.
TheElec reported on the 6th that Samsung plans to use a 1.3-inch display with a resolution of 3800 pixels per inch (ppi) on "Project Moohan", which is higher than Apple's Vision Pro (1.42 inches, 3391ppi, also manufactured by Sony).

According to TheElec, its display will use silicon-based OLED (OLEDoS) technology; component suppliers for the Samsung XR headset will begin mass production next month; the headset is expected to be officially launched in the second half of this year, with a maximum shipment of around 100,000 units.
Sony showcased a 1.3-inch OLEDoS sample with 4K resolution in 2023, priced at 150,000 yen (currently approximately 7,327 yuan). TheElec believes the sample's specifications may be similar to those of displays supplied to Samsung.
Meanwhile, Apple is also preparing a "budget-friendly" version of the Vision Pro. For this new model, Apple plans to use a glass-substrate Micro OLED instead of OLEDoS. The company is in talks with Samsung Display and JDI to collaborate on developing a 2-inch, 1500ppi resolution display. (Image source: IT Home)
