Recent industry reports indicate that LG Display plans to invest approximately 700 billion won (about 3.661 billion yuan) to build a new OLED technology plant on idle land at its Paju factory. Furthermore, there are rumors that LG Display may sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for domestic investment repatriation with Gyeonggi Province and Paju City as early as July.
In response to the aforementioned rumors, LG Display officially issued a clarification announcement on June 9.
The announcement stated: "LG Display is continuously optimizing its investment portfolio and upgrading its business structure, focusing on OLED, which combines profitability and technological differentiation. In order to further expand operating results and strengthen its medium- and long-term business competitiveness, the company is exploring various options, but as of now, the investment plans mentioned in media reports have not yet been finalized or decided."
