Taiwanese LED manufacturers are embarking on a major transformation, with Everlight, Fu-Cai, Tai-Goo, Li-Chi, and HONG-Kai targeting popular applications such as silicon photonics and compound semiconductors, hoping to carve out a new blue ocean market.

Under the leadership of Chairman Yeh Yin-fu, Everlight is steadily moving towards high-end functional sensing devices and compound semiconductors. Currently, the company's main revenue drivers are invisible light and automotive products, and it will continue to expand its automotive market in the second half of the year, driving continued revenue growth.

Everlight is also actively expanding into emerging semiconductor fields. Silicon carbide (SiC) has entered trial production, while silicon photonics is still being developed in the laboratory, striving to reduce production costs and improve yield, thereby creating new profit drivers for the company.

To optimize its optoelectronic semiconductor business, Fu-Cai announced on February 21, 2025, the merger of its two subsidiaries, Epistar and Lextar Electronics. The new company will be tentatively named Fu-Cai Optoelectronics, with the merger base date tentatively set for October 1, 2025. Through the integration of chip and packaging technologies, Fu-Cai ranks among the top LED manufacturers with both optoelectronic semiconductor chip and packaging capabilities.

Fu-Cai promotes high-value-added "3+1" applications, covering automotive, advanced display, smart sensing and optical communication, and high-efficiency III-V solar cells. Combined with the resources of its parent company, AU Optronics, Fu-Cai possesses unique potential in new display technologies and AI-driven optical communication and new energy fields.

Taigu has focused on the semiconductor field, actively investing in semiconductor subsidiaries and collaborating with Singapore's Sunlune to seize the AI computing and encryption chip market. The semiconductor business will be key to its operations.

Richtek is undergoing a diversified transformation, deepening its core packaging and testing technologies and expanding into SiP and high-frequency optoelectronic SiP technologies, targeting electric vehicles, AI, the metaverse, and emerging silicon photonics. (Source: Taiwan Economic Daily News)
