On December 16, LG Electronics announced that it will launch its first flagship RGB backlit TV, the LG Micro RGB evo, at CES 2026. The TV uses Micro RGB technology and features the smallest independent RGB LED chip in LG TVs to date, marking a significant step forward in display technology from Mini LED backlighting.

LG Electronics stated that the LG Micro RGB evo represents an advancement in Micro RGB technology, with the TV employing the third-generation AI processor α (Alpha) 11 to achieve OLED-level precision RGB LED backlight control.

This processor features Dual Super Upscaling, enabling it to handle two types of AI upscaling operations simultaneously, providing users with top-tier clarity and immersion. Thanks to its enhanced processing power, the TV achieves a breakthrough in RGB Primary Color Ultra technology, better reproducing the full spectrum of colors.

Driven by RGB Ultra technology, the LG Micro RGB evo achieves 100% coverage in the three major color gamut standards: BT.2020, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB, meeting the high-end needs of professional digital editing, HDR movie viewing, and more.

In addition, the TV features Micro Dimming Ultra technology. This technology can coordinate more than a thousand dimming zones with extremely high precision to achieve ultra-high contrast performance. Through precise point control of brightness and color, the TV can display complex details in both dark and bright environments.

In addition to its high-quality picture performance, the LG Micro RGB evo TV also features the webOS platform, Voice ID voice recognition, AI image/sound guidance, and a customizable home screen.

It is reported that the LG Micro RGB evo (model MRGB95) will be available in 100-inch, 86-inch and 75-inch sizes.

It is worth noting that although LG Electronics focuses on the development of OLED technology, it has also begun to extend its development to MLED in recent years.

In the field of RGB LED backlighting, LG Electronics has registered several trademarks this year, including "Hyper Radiant RGB", "RGB evo", "Micro RGB" and "Micro RGB Matrix". With the release of LG Micro RGB evo, LG has officially entered the field of RGB LED backlighting technology.

In the field of Mini LED backlighting, LG Electronics first released its first Mini LED backlit TV, QNED Mini LED, in 2021, featuring up to 2,500 backlight zones. LG has since upgraded the QNED series year after year.

In March of this year, LG Electronics released its latest QNED series, adding a 100-inch model to cover the entire 40-100 inch size range. It features a dynamic quantum dot color solution, increasing color gamut coverage to 98% of DCI-P3. Prices start at 15,915 yuan.

In the LED display field, LG Electronics focuses on its Micro LED display brand, LG MAGNIT, and launched its first 136-inch product in 2020. Currently, LG MAGNIT products can be used in various fields such as virtual photography, home theater, and commercial applications.

This year, LG Electronics released its latest home theater products under the LG MAGNIT brand, featuring a 136-inch giant screen with 4K resolution and an ultra-high contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. In addition, LG also developed a flight simulator based on LG MAGNIT displays for the Korean aerospace industry. (Compiled)
