On June 25, South Korean media outlet The Elec reported that Samsung Electronics is considering including its affiliate Samsung Display as a screen supplier for its Android XR headset Project Moohan, changing the situation where Sony was the sole supplier.

It is reported that Project Moohan will use an OLEDoS (Micro OLED) display panel with a diagonal length of 1.3 inches and a resolution of approximately 3800 PPI.
According to South Korean media reports, Samsung Electronics currently expects to ship around 100,000 units of Project Moohan, which is not a large quantity. However, in the long run, a stable OLEDoS supply chain will be crucial for the continued development of the XR business, while Sony is not enthusiastic about expanding production because its main business is not in this area.
Including Samsung Display in Project Moohan's screen supply system can improve Samsung Electronics' long-term supply stability and enhance its bargaining power with Sony. On the other hand, Samsung Display can also gain practice opportunities for OLEDoS mass production projects.
Samsung Electronics is also developing an XR smart glasses called Project Haean, which will reportedly use LCoS display technology to meet the display brightness requirements of a brighter visual space.
