This pioneering technology drives the application of Micro LED in mobile consumer products such as smartwatches, smartphones, tablets, and personal computers.
It is understood that micro-integrated circuits enable display backplane architectures to have greater flexibility and energy efficiency. The new Micro LED display features a cost-effective and power-saving architecture, utilizing a cluster drive system and Micro LEDs measuring only 13×20 μm², achieving a peak brightness of 2360 cd/m², along with excellent clarity, color, and contrast.
Both Micro ICs and Micro LEDs are manufactured using cutting-edge production equipment. Notably, the mass transfer process used in the development of these prototypes achieved a Micro LED sub-pixel yield of 99.9998% and a Micro IC transfer yield of 99.992%, and these processes are already suitable for mass production.
Lumileds stated that XDC's mass transfer, bonding, and display driving technologies offer new opportunities to transform the display industry. Lumileds has successfully implemented XDC's Micro LED transfer technology in its LED mass production facilities. Lumileds will work with XDC to set new standards for the Micro LED industry and drive the development of mobile display technology.
XDC stated that the long-term collaboration between the two companies will bring Micro LED displays needed by customers in the mobile device field. According to available information, XDC is a technology developer that licenses intellectual property, sells Micro LED and Pixel Engine components, and micro-transfer equipment, powering the development of next-generation displays.
