On July 12, the unveiling ceremony of the second phase of the TCL CSOT & Xiaomi Innovation Display Joint Laboratory was held at the TCL CSOT Wuhan base.
TCL CSOT stated that the unveiling of the second phase of the laboratory marks a comprehensive deepening of the strategic cooperation between the company and Xiaomi, signifying that the two parties will join hands to explore future display technologies in a wider range of fields and with higher goals, and continue to consolidate and expand their leading advantages.
It is understood that TCL CSOT and Xiaomi have a long history of cooperation, and the two parties have gradually established a deep and comprehensive strategic partnership since 2017.
Back in February 2020, Lei Jun announced that the Xiaomi 10 series not only customized Samsung screens, but also invested in customizing TCL CSOT AMOLED curved screens.
In 2021, the Joint Laboratory for Innovative Displays (Phase I) was officially established, aiming to conduct pre-research cooperation on semiconductor display technology and share technological achievements.
Lin Pei, Senior Vice President of TCL CSOT, said: "The second phase of the laboratory will further strengthen the integration of basic research and industrialization through more advanced equipment and a more complete R&D system, continue to tackle ultra-high-end display technologies, and create a world-leading source of display innovation."

Over the past few years, TCL CSOT and Xiaomi have achieved breakthroughs in several technologies and obtained a series of results:
In 2017, the Xiaomi 5X was the first to feature a TCL CSOT LTPS screen;
In 2020, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra used a TCL CSOT OLED panel;
In 2021, Xiaomi and TCL CSOT jointly defined and launched the world's first under-display camera smartphone;
In 2022, the two parties jointly defined and promoted the 1.5K screen standard and developed China's first 2K LTPO screen;
In 2023, Xiaomi and TCL CSOT started the research and development of the full-width micro-curved screen two years ahead of schedule, and jointly invested an extraordinary amount of resources, applying for more than 130 patents in total;
In 2024, Xiaomi and TCL CSOT jointly launched the MIX Fold series of foldable screens.
As we move into 2025, the cooperation between the two parties continues to advance: TCL CSOT supplies many products that Xiaomi has released this year, including the MIX Flip 2 foldable phone, the YU7 SUV, the 15s Pro phone, and the 7 Ultra tablet.
TCL CSOT pointed out that the Joint Laboratory for Innovative Displays, as an innovation platform embodying the cooperation model between the two parties, has built a closed-loop mechanism of "joint R&D + production capacity synergy" in this process. This has streamlined the critical path from pre-research to verification and then to mass production, greatly shortening the implementation cycle of innovative technologies and improving project efficiency and product maturity.
