New Micro LED Microdisplay Technologies and Products Emerge Frequently <br /> In the third quarter, new Micro LED microdisplay technologies and products emerged frequently. Domestic and international industry chain companies and universities, including BOE, HC SemiTek, JBD, Kopin, Fuzhou University, and Samsung, continued to advance the performance improvement of Micro LED microdisplay technology.

In the downstream AR glasses application sector, companies are also launching new AR glasses products equipped with Micro LED micro-display technology. Among them, Leyard, a well-known LED display company, and Alibaba's team, a well-known domestic technology company, also showcased their latest Micro LED AR glasses products.

In addition, at the end of June, Vuzix, an American AR glasses company, announced that it had received a new purchase order for its Micro LED AR smart glasses, which will create a smart glasses product that can provide real-time captions for the hearing impaired, and promote the continuous progress of Micro LED AR smart glasses applications.

Micro LED microdisplay technology continues to attract capital investment . In the third quarter, several Micro LED microdisplay and AR glasses companies completed their latest financing rounds, including Mojo Vision, JBD, Chipscreen Semiconductor, Yanshan Technology, Thunderbird Innovation, Yingmu Technology, and XPANCEO.

Among them, Dubai-based AR smart contact lens developer XPANCEO completed a $250 million (approximately RMB 1.8 billion) Series A funding round. The funds will be used for the research and development of smart contact lenses, product design and the construction of the operations team, as well as to accelerate the commercialization process of the products.

In addition, regarding acquisition activities, the most noteworthy event was in August when Goertek, a subsidiary of Goertek Inc., provided an interest-bearing loan of no more than US$100 million to the British company Haylo in order to acquire all the equity of MicroLED company Plessey.

Goertek stated that this investment is intended to promote the maturity of Micro LED-related technologies and products, and to support the future development of the company's AI smart glasses and AR augmented reality businesses.

Several Micro LED microdisplay technology-related projects saw new progress in September . In terms of project progress, projects related to Micro LED microdisplay technology from companies such as Guozhao Optoelectronics, Xingyue Semiconductor, Jueyuan Chuangzhi, and Rokid saw new progress in September.

Among them, StarKey Semiconductor completed the commissioning of the first 8-inch silicon-based gallium nitride Micro LED chip pilot line in Wuhan Optics Valley.

This project utilizes 8-inch gallium nitride (GaN) LED epitaxial technology and achieves high yield through mature non-destructive silicon removal technology, enabling a production capacity of 12,000 8-inch GaN wafers per year. Furthermore, the production line is highly compatible with 8-inch CMOS semiconductor chip processes, allowing products to be used in AR/MR glasses.

TCL CSOT and CSOT have successively reached cooperation agreements with Vuzix . In terms of project cooperation, domestic display companies TCL CSOT and CSOT have successively reached cooperation agreements with American AR glasses company Vuzix.

Among them, TCL CSOT and Vuzix have reached a long-term strategic partnership to jointly create a complete optical display solution that integrates TCL CSOT's advanced Micro LED microdisplay and Vuzix's waveguide technology. This provides global smart glasses OEMs and consumer electronics brands with an easy-to-integrate and rapidly mass-producible modular option, thereby significantly reducing the development threshold of AR glasses and accelerating the marketization process of the product.

Meanwhile, CEFILES is collaborating with Vuzix to develop high-performance optical solutions, combining CEFILES' T1-0.13-inch single green Micro LED microdisplay with Vuzix's waveguide technology and overall design capabilities to accelerate the commercialization of next-generation AI/AR smart glasses.

In 2025, from the industrial chain to the application end, the development of Micro LED micro-display technology will continue to accelerate. Is the era of large-scale application of Micro LED micro-display about to arrive?

On October 30th, our subsidiary and TrendForce Display will jointly host the 2025 Self-Emitting Display Industry Seminar in Shenzhen. At the seminar, we will deliver a keynote speech titled "Near-Eye Display Technology Trends and Industry Dynamics Analysis," providing an in-depth analysis of the latest developments in Micro LED near-eye display technology and interpreting the opportunities and challenges of the future near-eye display market.
