Recently, Japanese helmet manufacturer Shoei announced the launch of its first AR helmet, the GT-Air 3 Smart, which was developed in collaboration with the French company EyeLights.

EyeLights, a long-time provider of motorcycle helmet head-up displays (HUDs) and Bluetooth audio technology, has provided the helmet with a third-generation integrated face shield HUD that projects riding data into the rider's field of vision without the need for additional external devices.

According to EyeLights, speed, navigation, call alerts, and radar warnings are displayed at a distance equivalent to approximately three meters. The company claims this technology can reduce rider reaction time. To address the issue of unclear HUD visibility in bright sunlight, the system uses a nano-OLED display, maintaining full HD resolution even in direct sunlight.

In addition to the HUD, the GT-Air 3 Smart integrates a universal intercom system, compatible with various brands of devices, and supports online and offline mesh network modes. The audio components include an active noise-canceling microphone and support Apple's Siri and Google Assistant. The official battery life is stated to exceed 10 hours, and all related hardware is built into the helmet shell.

In terms of safety specifications, the GT-Air 3 Smart meets DOT and ECE 22.06 standards. The helmet uses a Shoei AIM multi-layer composite shell. The standard GT-Air 3 weighs approximately 1.77 kg, while the Smart version is slightly heavier, but the exact weight has not been released. Features include a QSV-2 pull-down visor, a Pinlock-compatible CNS-1C visor, and adjustable air intakes and exhaust systems located at the top and chin.

The helmet is available in five colors and sizes ranging from S to XXL, priced at $1199 (approximately RMB 8520), nearly double the price of the standard model. (Compiled)
