On October 9, tech media outlet Android Headline published a blog post sharing a set of promotional materials showcasing key information about Samsung's first XR headset, the Galaxy XR (project codename "Project Moohan").

In terms of screen, the Samsung Galaxy XR will deliver an extremely detailed visual experience, featuring a 4K Micro OLED screen with a PPI (pixels per inch) of 4032 and a total of 29 million pixels for both eyes, surpassing the 23 million pixels of the Apple Vision Pro.

In terms of performance, to ensure smooth operation of spatial audio, gesture recognition, and AI features, the Galaxy XR is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor. This chip is optimized for XR devices and can provide 4.3K resolution rendering capabilities for each eye.

In terms of the tracking system, the headset is equipped with a hand-tracking camera and a depth sensor on the front, and four eye-tracking cameras using infrared LEDs and AI technology to accurately identify the user's gaze point. In addition, the microphone system supports spatial audio and can effectively separate the user's voice from ambient noise, enabling coordinated control of hands, eyes, and voice for an intuitive operating experience.

In terms of wearing comfort, the device weighs only 545 grams, lighter than the Apple Vision Pro (600-650 grams), reducing the burden of wearing it for extended periods. The parts of the device that come into contact with the face are made of soft, cushioned material, and it features an adjustable headband with a knob for tightness adjustment, as well as a removable hood to enhance immersion.

In terms of battery life, the Galaxy XR offers approximately 2 hours of general use or 2.5 hours of video playback, roughly the same as the Vision Pro.

It is reported that the Samsung Galaxy XR is expected to be officially released in October, with pre-registration possibly starting on October 15th. The price is expected to be no less than $1800 (approximately RMB 12,800). (Source: IT Home)
