Hesai Technology, a leading global LiDAR company, announced today that it will deepen its cooperation with BYD, a global leader in the new energy vehicle market, in the field of intelligent driving, and will soon enter the stage of mass production and vehicle integration. In 2025, more than ten BYD models will be equipped with Hesai LiDAR technology and launched successively.
In 2024, BYD once again became the focus of the global automotive market with its outstanding performance. Its global sales reached 4.27 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 41.26%. It won the championship in sales of car companies, brands and new energy vehicles in China, and became the undisputed "triple crown king".
Meanwhile, BYD is making comprehensive efforts in the field of intelligent technology. Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu stated that 100 billion yuan will be invested to achieve a comprehensive intelligent upgrade of its vehicles. By 2025, BYD aims to enable every user to experience the convenience of advanced intelligent driving through its self-developed "Eye of the Gods" advanced intelligent driving assistance system. Currently, BYD's intelligent driving models have exceeded 4 million units, ranking first in China. Hesai Optoelectronics will also empower intelligent driving safety and accelerate BYD's goal of "intelligent driving equality."
According to data from Gasgoo Automotive Research Institute, the LiDAR market experienced strong growth in 2024, with annual installations exceeding 1.5 million units for the first time, more than double that of 2023. Hesai also became the world's first LiDAR company to deliver over 100,000 units in a single month at the end of the year. This year, Hesai LiDAR plans to increase its annual production capacity to over 2 million units. Its compact, ultra-high-definition, long-range LiDAR ATX will serve as a key product in the OEM mass production field, achieving full-scale production in 2025 and providing precise and powerful sensing support to a wide range of OEM customers.
