Hung Kai Optoelectronics (stock code: 5244), a supplier of integrated optoelectronic semiconductor solutions, had revenue of NT$860 million and net profit after tax of NT$170 million in 2024. The earnings per share (EPS) for the full year of 2024 was NT$2.46, and the board of directors resolved to distribute a cash dividend of NT$1.5.

Key highlights of Hongkai's 2024 financial report:

  • Full-year revenue was NT$860 million, a year-on-year decrease of 2.4%.
  • Net profit after tax was NT$170 million, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%.
  • Earnings per share (EPS) NT$2.46

HONGKAI Optoelectronics General Manager and Spokesperson Tseng Chih-hung stated that although the global PC and NB market recovery was slow in 2024, coupled with a more conservative sales approach in the automotive market due to the overall economic impact in mainland China, which had a certain impact on the company's revenue last year, HONGKAI successfully maintained its gross profit margin and operating profit levels and achieved its EPS growth target thanks to its long-standing leading technological capabilities in IC LED and other products, as well as continuously optimized production and operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, Hongkai Optoelectronics will continue its development in two major areas: automotive applications and intelligent sensing.
I. Deepening ICLED Technology and Laying the Foundation for Next-Generation Smart Cockpit and Exterior Lighting Systems. Hung Kai Optoelectronics will continue to strengthen its ICLED technology, having previously expanded from supplying components to integrating hardware and software. In the future, it will move towards domain control solutions for intelligent lighting systems, achieving simplified design and rapid transmission to meet the trends of next-generation smart cockpit lighting systems. Currently, the company has partnered with internationally renowned automakers, actively implementing related solutions. In the future, it will further extend its control solutions to exterior lighting. As exterior lighting gradually shifts from a simple lighting and safety function to an important element of brand personalization design, and with a trend towards streamlined designs, Hung Kai has developed side-emitting LED products suitable for exterior applications. These products meet the design requirements of ultra-thin exterior lights and offer advantages such as thinness, lightweight, and environmental friendliness. In addition, the company has also developed a sky-blue series of products for autonomous driving system signage lights, as well as ICLED exterior application products in different colors, which can be combined with lighting control solutions to simultaneously meet the needs of regulatory trends, exterior lighting design trends, and material reduction and environmental protection trends.

II. Expanding the Invisible Light Product Portfolio and Exploring Emerging Applications Hongkai continues to deepen its expertise in the optical sensor field, actively developing its invisible light LED product line in recent years, including IR (infrared), ToF (Time-of-Flight) and wearable application sensing elements, and has also ventured into optical encoders and optical tracking sensors. The company has achieved success in ToF technology and has already demonstrated its application capabilities in the smart lock and smart home appliance markets, with plans to further expand its market share. Furthermore, Hongkai has collaborated with customers to develop optical encoders and has begun small-scale shipments, which are used in servo motors and precision motion control systems, receiving positive market feedback. With the growing demand for smart wearable devices, Hongkai is actively developing high-sensitivity PPG heart rate sensors and the industry's smallest OTS optical tracking sensor, featuring low power consumption and widely used in smartwatches. In the invisible light field, Hongkai will continue to expand its product portfolio and explore new applications to optimize its product mix and improve profitability.

General Manager Zeng Zhihong emphasized that despite the challenging external environment, Hongkai Optoelectronics will continue to focus on technological innovation and market expansion, consolidate existing markets and actively explore emerging application areas, break through revenue stagnation, maintain profitability, and create greater value for shareholders and customers.
