On April 28, according to foreign media reports, Apple is developing a new project codenamed N50, which will integrate Apple's AI technology into a stylish pair of glasses.
While Apple's ultimate dream is to create fully-fledged augmented reality (AR) glasses, that will take several more years.
It now appears that Apple is taking a more practical step, creating a product similar to the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses. The Meta glasses lack a display screen but are equipped with a camera, microphone, speaker, and even an AI assistant, all housed within a regular eyeglass frame.
Apple's glasses may also adopt the same design. Veteran Apple journalist Gurman says Apple's idea is to turn the glasses into an "Apple Smart" device that can understand its surroundings and provide useful information. However, it won't offer a full AR experience yet.
It's worth noting that Apple is still deciding whether to allow users to take photos with their glasses, as privacy is a major consideration.

Apple is also developing a new version of AirPods, which may use the same "visual intelligence" technology and have a built-in camera. If everything goes according to plan, Apple is expected to launch smart glasses and new AirPods around 2027.
Earlier this month, foreign media reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook is currently focused on one thing: ensuring that a pair of smart AR (augmented reality) glasses that Apple will launch in the future can beat Meta in the market, and that the glasses are easy to use and truly sell well.
Apple hopes to beat Meta in this area. An insider stated that Cook doesn't care about anything else; from a product development perspective, this is the only thing he truly dedicates his time to. (Source: TechWeb)
