At SID Display Week 2025, the pinnacle event for global display technology, Porotech, leading the "AR Manufacturing Alliance," joined hands with four major industry partners—Foxconn, Rayprus, GIS, and Jorjin—to make a grand appearance at the McEnery Centre in San Jose, USA! This joint exhibition will present a complete one-stop AR solution, from materials, optomechanics, optical modules, AR glasses to complete assembly and mass production, comprehensively promoting the commercialization of AR technology and enabling the true application of future display technologies.
Porotech leads the creation of the world's most complete AR supply chain
As a core technology leader at the exhibition, Porotech successfully created the industry's first 8-inch process platform specifically designed for MicroLED applications, achieving a technological breakthrough by shrinking the pixel size to 1.25µm, fully demonstrating the unlimited potential of GaN-on-Si MicroLED technology. While driving commercialization, Porotech also announced the launch of a new red LED product—SpectraCore™. Compared to existing red LEDs, it not only offers 5 times the brightness but also features an ultra-narrow spectrum and ultra-high color purity. Regardless of driving conditions, the red light wavelength remains consistently stable, exhibiting excellent thermal stability and reliability.
In this breakthrough, Porotech overcame the biggest bottleneck in achieving full-color MicroLED displays—the efficiency and stability of red light—laying a crucial foundation for realizing true full-color near-eye displays. Combined with Porotech's patented 8-inch process platform, mass production capability was achieved, marking a significant and critical step towards the commercialization of MicroLED full-color displays.
Red light has always been the most challenging part of micro-display technology. Traditional AlInGaP (indium gallium phosphide) materials face problems such as low efficiency and poor reliability, making it impossible to meet the needs of commercialization and consumer electronics products.
Porotech, as the first company in the industry to commercialize InGaN red light in 2021, broke through this technological bottleneck. InGaN red light not only has the advantages of high efficiency and high reliability, but also shares high consistency with InGaN blue and green light materials in optoelectronic properties, which is conducive to the process integration of a single material platform. However, InGaN red light has long faced technical challenges such as wavelength drift, excessive full width at half maximum (FWHM), and poor color purity.
Porotech has once again taken the lead in the industry by successfully launching an InGaN red LED product that excels in brightness, efficiency, and color purity, injecting new momentum into AR microdisplay applications and taking a key step toward full-color MicroLED.
At this year's SID Display Week, Porotech will showcase its powerful vertical integration capabilities, from raw materials and wafer fabrication processes to chip-on-carrier (COC), chip-on-wafer (COW), LED chip manufacturing, and final panel applications, demonstrating its key role as a crucial driver of the MicroLED ecosystem. Through in-depth collaboration with its exhibition partners, Porotech will jointly unveil the blueprint for next-generation AR display technology, setting a new benchmark for the global industry.
