On June 18, 2025, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Shanghai, TCL CSOT's world's first Quasi-Natural Light Spectrum (Quasi-Natural Light Spectrum EX) certification was awarded by SGS, thanks to its outstanding performance in spectral optimization and color gamut. This makes it the world's first display product to receive this certification. Zhou Mingzhong, Director of the Technology Planning Center of TCL CSOT's R&D Platform, and Zhao Hui, Vice President of SGS China, along with other leaders from both companies, attended the certification ceremony. This certification not only demonstrates TCL CSOT's strength in eye-care display technology but also marks a significant step forward for the display industry towards a "natural spectrum-level" visual experience.

TCL CSOT's near-natural spectrum display technology achieves a perfect fusion of eye protection, picture quality, and slimness . In an era where electronic products are ubiquitous and used by increasingly younger people, displays are playing a growing role in daily life. Eye health, superior picture quality, and lightweight portability are becoming essential requirements for consumers when purchasing electronic products. TCL CSOT, keeping pace with these demands, continues to increase its investment in technological research and development, launching its latest near-natural spectrum display technology.

TCL CSOT's near-natural spectrum display technology optimizes BLU and RGB color resist schemes to achieve a full-spectrum composition ratio close to sunlight, which is beneficial to physiological rhythms. During the day, it promotes dopamine secretion in the retina, preventing myopia. At night, it reduces the inhibition of melatonin secretion by light, minimizing its impact on sleep.

While achieving a near-natural spectrum display, the near-natural spectrum display technology also achieves high brightness and high color gamut coverage, ensuring high image quality for the screen. Furthermore, with the support of multiple technological optimizations such as backlight film and encapsulation solutions, TCL CSOT's near-natural spectrum thin and light flat panel display LCM weighs only 99g and is 1.35mm thick, providing users with an ultimate user experience when combined with the overall slim and lightweight design.

Natural-like Spectrum Display Technology Receives International Certification <br /> As an internationally recognized testing, inspection, and certification body, SGS is an internationally recognized benchmark for quality and integrity. In response to industry development needs, SGS recently officially released the "PT-25-000-203860 Technical Specification for Natural-like Spectrum Certification Assessment" (hereinafter referred to as the "Standard"), which for the first time defines "natural-like spectrum" with scientifically quantifiable indicators, establishing an authoritative evaluation system for the optical performance of display products.

Studies have shown that prolonged exposure to display devices can easily lead to eye strain, one of the core contributing factors being the spectral differences between artificial and natural light sources. The standard released by SGS aims to optimize the lighting environment for devices from the source by simulating the spectral distribution characteristics of natural light.

According to the standard, the product must pass the following rigorous tests:

Natural Light Index (QNLI): The degree of spectral matching that closely approximates natural light.

Test principle: Compare the difference between the product's spectrum and the spectrum of natural light at noon, and calculate the agreement in the 380-780nm visible light band.

In the comprehensive evaluation and testing by the SGS technical team, TCL CSOT's natural spectrum thin and light flat panel display achieved a QNLI index of 56%, far exceeding the Ex-level standard.

SGS's first global certificate for near-natural spectrum certification

At the award ceremony, Zhou Mingzhong, Director of the Technology Planning Center of TCL CSOT's R&D Platform, stated: "TCL CSOT's Quasi-Natural Light Spectrum (QNS) thin and light flat panel display, thanks to its superior display characteristics, has obtained the world's first SGS QNS EX certification, further expanding TCL CSOT's product range of eye-care technologies and demonstrating TCL CSOT's leading position in the global eye-care technology field. From circular polarization technology, ambient light and color temperature adaptive adjustment, low blue light and anti-glare technology to QNS spectral display technology, TCL CSOT has accumulated a wealth of technical patents and recognition from authoritative third-party institutions. We look forward to closer cooperation between SGS and TCL CSOT in broader and deeper dimensions in the future, helping TCL CSOT to continuously bring consumers a better visual experience!"

Zhao Hui, Vice President of SGS China, stated, “SGS is honored to collaborate with TCL CSOT in the field of near-natural spectrum displays. TCL CSOT’s innovative practices fully demonstrate its strong commitment to eye health for end consumers and showcase the broad application prospects of near-natural spectrum technology in the consumer electronics sector. In the future, we look forward to more industry partners obtaining this certification to jointly build a ‘healthy light environment’ ecosystem. SGS will continue to leverage its professional advantages and technical strength in the testing and certification field, working hand in hand with companies like TCL CSOT to promote the continuous development of the display industry and create a healthier and better visual experience for consumers worldwide.”

As an innovative technology company focusing on the semiconductor display field, TCL CSOT has always been committed to providing excellent display solutions for various industries and continuously practicing the core value concept of the advanced display technology brand APEX. Through a more pleasant display experience, more reliable visual health, more sustainable green and low-carbon features, and more unlimited future imagination, TCL CSOT provides global consumers with a high-quality visual sensory experience.

In the future, TCL CSOT will continue to focus on visual health needs, bringing a new smart and healthy living experience to more users. (Source: TCL CSOT)
