Samsung announced on July 21 that its Galaxy Z Fold7 foldable phone has successfully passed a 500,000-fold durability test.

This test was independently verified by Bureau Veritas, a global testing and certification company. The results showed that the OLED panel on the phone was still fully functional after 500,000 folds, while Samsung's previous durability test for foldable phones was 200,000 folds.

Based on the average user folding the Galaxy Z Fold7 100 times a day, it means that even after 10 years, the Galaxy Z Fold7 can still be folded normally; even if a heavy user folds it 200 times a day, it can still be used normally for more than 6 years.

According to reports, the key to improving the durability of the Galaxy Z Fold7's folding mechanism lies in its cleverly designed panel architecture, which mimics the principle of bulletproof glass.

Samsung says that just like bulletproof glass absorbs and disperses impact through multiple layers, Samsung Display has designed a foldable panel with similar capabilities, increasing the thickness of the outermost ultra-thin glass (UTG) by 50% and introducing a new type of highly elastic adhesive between the panel layers.

This adhesive offers more than four times the recovery properties of previous materials, enabling the panel to significantly absorb external impacts. Furthermore, the new flat structure further disperses impact force, aided by the use of a lightweight titanium support plate. (Source: IT Home)
