On July 31, ams OSRAM officially released its Q2 2024 financial results.
During the reporting period, ams OSRAM achieved revenue of €775 million (approximately RMB 6.12 billion), reaching the midpoint of the company's forecast (€725 million to €825 million). Adjusted EBITDA was €145 million, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 18.8%, showing growth both sequentially and year-over-year.
In the first half of 2025, the company's cumulative revenue reached €1.595 billion (approximately RMB13.331 billion), and the adjusted EBITDA totaled €280 million, corresponding to a profit margin of 17.6%. Adjusted net profit reached €18 million, indicating a significant improvement in the company's profitability.

ams OSRAM stated that despite unfavorable exchange rate factors and macroeconomic uncertainties, the company's overall business has remained stable, demonstrating the initial success of its "Re-establish the Base" strategic plan.
ams OSRAM launched its "Rebuild the Foundation" strategic efficiency improvement plan in 2023, with an initial target of achieving annualized cost savings of €150 million by the end of 2025. As of the second quarter of 2025, ams OSRAM had already achieved cost savings of €160 million, reaching its target ahead of schedule. Furthermore, ams OSRAM plans to increase total cost savings to €225 million by the end of 2026. This measure will significantly improve the profitability of its CMOS sensor and ASIC (CSA) business.

Looking back at the performance of ams OSRAM's various businesses in Q2, the semiconductor business segment contributed €582 million in revenue during the reporting period, accounting for approximately 76% of the group's total revenue.
Among them, the Optoelectronics Semiconductor (OS) division achieved revenue of €344 million, a 2% increase quarter-on-quarter, driven by the peak season demand for plant lighting and a slight increase in automobile sales; adjusted EBITDA was €79 million, with the profit margin increasing significantly to 22.9% quarter-on-quarter.
Benefiting from increased demand for mobile device components and improved sales in industrial and medical applications, the CMOS and ASIC (CSA) division achieved revenue of €239 million during the reporting period, a 1% increase compared to the previous quarter; adjusted EBITDA increased significantly to €43 million.
ams OSRAM revealed that in the first half of the year, the company secured approximately €2.5 billion in new semiconductor design orders, covering more than 2,000 projects, which are expected to lay a solid foundation for the company's revenue in the coming years.
In Q2, the Lighting & Systems (L&S) segment generated revenue of €192 million, a 23% decrease quarter-over-quarter, accounting for 24% of the company's total revenue. This decline was primarily driven by inventory adjustments in the US automotive aftermarket retail channels, while weakness in the European market and the weakening of the US dollar against the euro also put pressure on revenue.
It is worth noting that ams OSRAM recently completed the first asset sale in its accelerated debt optimization plan, selling its Entertainment & Industry Lamps (ENI) business to Japanese optical technology company Ushio for €114 million (approximately RMB 900 million). In the future, ams OSRAM may continue to sell off non-core semiconductor and optical assets.
Looking ahead to Q3 and the full year of 2025, ams OSRAM projects Q3 revenue of €790 million to €890 million, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 19.5% (±1.5%). The semiconductor business is expected to see significant growth, driven by new project production, a recovering automotive market, and the peak season for consumer products. Meanwhile, a rebound in demand for traditional light bulbs in late summer will also positively impact overall revenue.
Furthermore, ams OSRAM projects its free cash flow to exceed €100 million for the full year of 2025, and stated that despite ongoing uncertainties surrounding global trade tariffs and currency fluctuations, the company will continue to drive profit improvement and growth in its core business.
