Jiang Zhixiong, General Manager of Foxconn's B Business Group and Digital Health, recently stated that the company's AR (Augmented Reality) glasses products are targeting the consumer market and may be mass-produced as early as next year, but the timeline has not yet been finalized. The company will enter the next generation of human-computer interface applications through a gradual and incremental approach, aiming to become a leader in the next generation of human-computer interaction platforms. He is optimistic that AR glasses, which combine near-eye display and eye-tracking technology, will be one of the most promising solutions in the AI era.

This collaboration between Foxconn and Nobel Biocare focuses on ophthalmology and optometry, conducting clinical studies on visual comfort and the effects of prolonged use, as well as verifying practical applications. Jiang Zhixiong pointed out that this collaboration not only lays the foundation for AR glasses in the medical field but also paves the way for the consumer market.

Jiang Zhixiong revealed that the initial AR glasses products will not be for medical use, but rather will be designed for next-generation consumer-grade human-computer interaction needs. The products are still being priced. He added that near-eye display and eye tracking are currently the most promising combination in AI interactive interfaces. In the future, wafer-level display technology and Micro LED will also be integrated. Foxconn will build a complete ecosystem, connecting the technology side all the way to the application side.

Jiang Zhixiong believes that near-eye display combined with eye tracking is currently the most promising human-computer interaction solution in the AI era. Among them, wafer-level display and Micro LED are key to success. These are highly demanding semiconductor technologies, and there are few manufacturers worldwide with the capability for mass production. Foxconn will play an important role in the Micro LED supply chain and ecosystem. Strategically, it will not only focus on foundry services but also build an ecosystem from components and modules to systems and applications.

In addition to ophthalmological applications, Foxconn is also conducting research and development in multimodal medical models for chest cavity, electrocardiogram, and breast cancer, and has already introduced nursing robots at Chung Rong Hospital to train new nursing staff in human-machine collaboration. Internal observations suggest that this could save nursing staff approximately 30-40% of their routine work time. In the future, there is significant potential for integration with AR glasses in clinical information presentation, remote guidance, and workflow navigation, strengthening the overall cohesion of smart healthcare solutions.
