Following the establishment of its 29.5 billion RMB 8.6-generation printed OLED production line in Guangzhou, TCL CSOT officially announced this afternoon that its Mini LED COB direct-display products have officially entered mass production, marking a further improvement in TCL CSOT's layout across the three major display technologies: LCD, OLED, and MLED.
It is reported that TCL CSOT's Suzhou base recently held a mass production ceremony for its MLED project's COB direct-display products. The first mass-produced product is a Mini LED COB display screen with the model number P1.2.
The P1.2 COB display features a large panel design, adjustable brightness from 0 to 800 nits, and a contrast ratio of up to 5000:1, making it suitable for various scenarios such as conferences, command centers, and security monitoring.
The product passed rigorous tests, including iron ball impact and high-temperature water immersion, maintaining its structural integrity and demonstrating greater impact resistance than traditional SMD screens. Its chip-level armor packaging technology hides the solder joints inside the substrate, effectively improving the overall screen reliability and lifespan.
The high contrast of COB displays enables them to display a low light of 0.01 lumens against a pure black background, enhancing the ability to reproduce details in nighttime monitoring images. The modular design supports arbitrary cutting and splicing, providing more possibilities for the flexible construction of large-scale display systems.
TCL CSOT stated that MLED is the company's third display technology route after LCD and OLED, and the project was officially launched in July 2024. After signing the contract, the company quickly advanced the equipment installation, debugging, and technology verification, ultimately achieving mass production 15 days ahead of schedule.
As a giant in the panel industry, TCL CSOT's entry into the LED display industry may accelerate the popularization of COB technology, while also intensifying market competition and reshaping the industry chain ecosystem.
It is also worth mentioning that TCL CSOT has continued to exert its efforts in the field of MLED technology this year, promoting the implementation and application expansion of a number of products.
In the field of Mini LED backlighting, TCL CSOT has supplied three 11.98-inch Mini LED screens for Xiaomi's YU7 Sky Screen and has also launched low-power, high-efficiency Mini LED products to expand VR and XR application scenarios.
In the field of Micro LED, the company showcased a 14.3-inch ultra-bright Micro LED automotive PHUD display and the world's smallest silicon-based Micro LED display at this year's SID Display Week, targeting future applications such as wearable devices.
