AAC Technologies recently signed a definitive agreement to acquire shares and other equity securities of Dispelix Oy, a Finnish AR diffraction waveguide technology company. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026, after which Dispelix will become a subsidiary of AAC Technologies.

Dispelix, headquartered in Finland, focuses on transparent waveguide products for enterprise and consumer AR devices, providing AR devices with see-through display capabilities that overlay the real world with virtual information.

The two parties have a long-standing strategic partnership. Dispelix’s expertise in optical waveguide design and manufacturing will be combined with AAC Technologies’ experience in optics, precision manufacturing and system-level integration to create technological synergy.

Following the acquisition, both parties will continue to advance technology development in the fields of diffractive optics and AR components, and promote the commercialization of optical waveguide technology for consumer and enterprise wearable devices.

Regarding this collaboration, Dispelix CEO Antti Sunnari stated that the partnership will enhance the company's ability to deliver high-performance AR components at scale. The acquisition will also expand AAC Technologies' XR product portfolio and support system design, integration, and mass production capabilities. AAC Technologies Executive Vice President Pan Kaitai stated that this acquisition is an important step for the company to expand into new product areas and enhance its growth momentum.

Public information shows that AAC Technologies, as a smart device solutions provider, has businesses covering acoustics, optics, electromagnetic drives, precision machinery and other fields, and has 19 R&D centers worldwide.

Prior to this, AAC Technologies had already made several investments in emerging fields such as XR and automotive electronics.

In the field of micro-displays, in 2022, AAC Technologies, as the lead investor, participated in the tens of millions of US dollars Pre-A+ and Pre-A++ rounds of financing for Radeon Semiconductor. The funds were used for the research and development of full-color Micro LED micro-display chips, team expansion and mass production preparation.

In the automotive electronics sector, AAC Technologies has invested in Ouye Semiconductor. Founded in 2021, the company primarily focuses on SoC chips and system solutions related to the third-generation electronic/electrical (E/E) architecture for intelligent vehicles, covering products such as smart rearview mirrors and area controllers, and providing integrated solution delivery for algorithms and software.
