Taiwanese LED packaging manufacturers continue to expand their transformation efforts, not only accelerating their departure from standard products, but also diversifying their transformation paths, focusing on invisible light, Micro LED, semiconductors, silicon photonics, and seeking new blue oceans in AI applications.
Everlight, a leading manufacturer, recently held an investor conference. The company's optical couplers have firmly established themselves among the top five globally and continue to develop high-end optical couplers. Everlight expects its gross margin to remain high in 2025. Optical couplers can be applied in AI-related fields such as robotics, industrial control DLC, and servers, and have room for development in computing power and CPO. Everlight is also optimistic about the development potential of optical couplers in the AI field.
In addition, Richtek, HONGKAI, and FIH Mobile all joined the Silicon Photonics Alliance in 2024 to enter the field of optical communications. Richtek stated at its earnings conference that it continues to cultivate five major growth areas, including the technological development and product research and development of SIP heterogeneous integration - high frequency, mid-low frequency components and modules; among which, high frequency focuses on the needs of the silicon photonics industry.
In addition to improving visibility through automotive IC LEDs, HONGKAI has seen significant year-on-year growth in invisible light technologies such as IR LEDs and sensors in the first three quarters of 2024, and is optimistic about the momentum of invisible light in 2025. In the field of AI laptops, HONGKAI is focusing on new keyboard technologies and waiting for the AI laptop replacement wave to take off.

Edison's current revenue from optical communications accounts for about 5%, with optical transmission components such as transceiver modules as its main products. In addition to continuing to cultivate the automotive finished products and module fields, the company has recruited a research and development team in the field of optical transmission and plans to enter the CPO related fields.
As for Mini LED and Micro LED, Neptunus has reached a new milestone, turning a profit in both a single month and a single quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2024, it also recognized revenue from the sale of Micro LED equipment for the first time. With the revenue sources continuing to expand, Neptunus's prospect of doubling its full-year revenue in 2025 is without a doubt.
Hongqi has long been investing in Micro LED R&D. In 2025, based on the needs of its group partners, Jiuyuan Electronics and Tianzheng International, in terms of Micro LED precision and production processes, Hongqi will develop Micro LED equipment for its internal operations. Hongqi estimates that its capital expenditure in 2025 will reach 300 million yuan, including Mini LED equipment, Micro LED equipment, and the construction of a factory in Xiamen.
