On September 16, tech media 9to5Mac published a blog post stating that at the Connect conference on September 17, Meta once again partnered with Ray-Ban to launch the Meta x Ray-Ban Display smart glasses. The glasses feature a fixed HUD display in one eye and an sEMG wristband, allowing users to input text by swiping their fingers. They also support MetaAI and walking navigation.

A short YouTube video from Meta has revealed a preview of Meta's new lineup of smart glasses in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, including the "Meta Ray-Ban Display" glasses, which will be released at the Connect conference in 2025.
This device features Ray-Ban's classic design, with glasses employing a full-color LCoS+ array waveguide architecture and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, creating a fixed HUD display effect for each eye. Furthermore, the glasses are controlled by a Meta-developed electromyography (sEMG) wristband, which recognizes the wearer's finger swipes on physical surfaces to enable text input and interaction.

This HUD (Head-Up Display) is not positioned as a full augmented reality (AR) experience, but rather focuses on displaying auxiliary information. Leaked footage shows the HUD being used to call the Meta AI assistant, perform walking navigation, and other functions, with the display interface visible to the right eye.
The sEMG wristband can capture signals from the wearer's wrist muscles, enabling lightweight interactions such as pinching and tapping. Users can use tiny gestures to reply to messages and perform other operations, which is more discreet and efficient than traditional touch or voice input.
According to a previous report by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the product will start at $800 (approximately 5701 RMB at the current exchange rate) and weigh about 70 grams, slightly heavier than the existing Ray-BanMeta glasses which weigh 50 grams. (Source: IT Home, compiled)
