On September 18, Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the Ray-Ban Display AI Glasses at the Connect conference. Compared to the current Ray-Ban AI Glasses, it adds a display screen that can directly display navigation, notifications and other information on the glasses, and supports a new electromyography (EMG) wristband. The price starts at $799 (approximately RMB 5,673).

According to reports, this pair of glasses features a new display screen based on LCoS (liquid crystal on silicon) technology. It uses a waveguide optical solution, so the content displayed inside the lens is completely invisible to outsiders. It also does not have the rainbow effect of traditional AI glasses. Its resolution is 600*600, the field of view is about 20°, and the pixel density is about 42PPD.

Thanks to the new screen, Meta has also brought a brand-new interaction method to this bracelet. The bracelet's design is similar to a wristband, but it does not have a screen. It has electrodes inside that can capture electrical signals from muscles. Combined with algorithms, it can recognize actions such as pinching, sliding, rotating, and clenching a fist, allowing users to interact with the glasses directly using these actions.

Currently, users can use the myoelectric bracelet to adjust volume, take photos, answer calls, and share their field of vision. Meta also stated that in the future, they will add a "finger writing" function to the bracelet, allowing users to type by simply writing on their trouser leg with their finger. They will also launch a series of assistive functions to make the glasses accessible to people with physical disabilities.

In terms of functionality, these glasses integrate Meta's own ecosystem, allowing direct access to social media such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and Facebook. They also support AI image recognition search, navigation, and translation functions. However, they do not currently support email or memo apps, nor can they integrate Google/Apple ecosystem applications.

However, it should be noted that these glasses are currently only suitable for users with a visual acuity of +4.00 to -4.00. They cannot be replaced with prescription lenses at present, and users with myopia will have to wait for a while before they can purchase them.

These glasses will be available in the US starting September 30th, priced from $799 (approximately 5673 RMB at the current exchange rate). They are expected to launch in more regions next year. (Source: IT Home)
