Today, TCL CSOT officially launched its 163-inch MLED COB direct display screen at the DTC2025 Ecosystem Conference in Suzhou. This product claims to offer the world's highest image quality, surpassing industry standards in contrast ratio, color depth, refresh rate, and grayscale.

Specifically, the product uses self-developed ultra-low reflection encapsulation materials, achieving a contrast ratio of up to 37,500:1, making the picture deeper and clearer; based on a pixel-level PWM (pulse width modulation) + PAM (amplitude control) hybrid drive architecture, it adopts the industry's highest bit depth 24-bit technology solution to achieve 16.77 million grayscale display, accurately restoring details and providing natural color transitions.
The product features a 144Hz high frame rate and supports a 7680Hz high refresh rate, ensuring smooth, lag-free dynamic visuals. Simultaneously, it analyzes the display in real-time and dynamically adjusts the brightness, resulting in enhanced dynamic effects and more refined grayscale performance.
It is understood that the underlying logic of the hybrid drive architecture combines PWM and PAM technologies, which is equivalent to adding a second dimension to LED brightness control. By controlling the power-on time and changing the current, more delicate grayscale changes can be achieved, and significant improvements can be made in terms of brightness, low power consumption and low temperature rise.

In addition, TCL CSOT's 163-inch MLED display adopts a large-size panel design, achieving a seamless splicing effect and improving installation efficiency.
This year, large-size panel designs have gained widespread attention. Besides significantly reducing seams and improving efficiency, the reduced number of panels also offers clear advantages in installation and maintenance costs. Currently, other manufacturers in the industry are actively developing large-screen products based on large-size panel designs, further enhancing the competitiveness of LED direct-view displays.
From another perspective, the adoption of large-size panel design also reflects TCL CSOT's new breakthroughs in yield control.
In fact, technological upgrades and enhanced product competitiveness are the two key focuses for TCL CSOT in entering the LED direct-view display field, with the goal of driving COB displays to penetrate commercial, specialized, and even consumer display application markets more quickly.
From the perspective of market competition, the current COB capacity utilization rate is only about half. With panel manufacturers such as TCL CSOT actively deploying and expanding production, the total capacity this year is expected to reach about 88,700 ㎡/month. In the short term, there may be overcapacity, which may trigger a reshuffle.
It is understood that, facing increasingly fierce competition, TCL CSOT will enhance its competitiveness in two aspects: advanced technology and competitive products. Regarding the second point, TCL CSOT will improve its internal cost control capabilities (by further integrating AI R&D, AI manufacturing, and AI operations in the future) and extend its industrial chain upstream to achieve a vertically integrated layout from chips, packaging, modules to displays, thereby strengthening its cost advantages through industrial synergy.
