On June 18th, South Korean media reported that Apple is considering adopting LTPO3 technology in its 2027 iPhone models. This new technology can significantly reduce screen power consumption. Apple first used LTPO3 technology in last year's Apple Watch Series 10, supplied by LG Display.

According to a report by South Korean media outlet THE ELECT, Apple is expected to decide in the third quarter of this year whether to adopt LTPO3 technology in the 2027 iPhone, or whether Samsung Display and LG Display will provide the relevant products. The iPhone series for this year and next year will continue to use LTPO2 technology.

According to media reports, the ultra-thin 2027 iPhone Air is expected to be the first to adopt LTPO3 technology, as this model has a lower battery capacity than other models in the series and requires related technologies to reduce power consumption.

It's worth noting that there's been new information regarding Apple's first foldable iPhone. According to renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Foxconn is expected to officially begin production of the foldable iPhone in late Q3 or early Q4 of 2025. Samsung Display will become the display supplier for Apple's foldable phone, planning to produce 7 to 8 million foldable panels in 2026. (Source: TrendForce Display)
